Introduction to Database
A database is an integrated collection of logically related data, when processed, gives an information. Thedatabase is helpful in storing, updating and maintaining huge amount of data. A database is a collection of tables. The usage of database minimizes and also eliminates most of the complexities in maintaining the information though files. This is because of the organizational structure that lies within the database.
Database
- The basic unit of storage in database is the table [entity].
- The table is a collection of rows.
- The row is collection of integrated columns.
- Each unique column is used to hold a specific value about an entity.
- The column can be used to define a property, characeristic, behavior or an attribute of the entity.
Example:
- We can create a database namely School Administration.
- The database can have tables such as StudentMaster, StaffMaster, ClassMaster, etc..
- The StudentMaster can have the collection of information regarding the students studying in the school.
- The columns in the StudentMaster can have the columns to hold student information as StudentRegno, StudentName, StudentFatherName, StudentDOB,...
- Each student information will be stored in the StudentMaster table as a row, also called a record.
